ABOUT MCAM

 The International Music and Christian Arts Ministry of the African Methodist Episcopal Church was created to educate, elevate and expand the arts in worship throughout the connectional AME Church.  Through a variety of mediums MCAM demonstrates by example. Presenting music, dance, and drama presentations of the highest artistic caliber.  MCAM is a place “Where faith meets the Arts” in the AME worship experience.

MISSION

 Our mission and goal is to educate, elevate and expand the understanding and use of the arts in worship.  Through workshops, teaching, training and example it is our goal to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry through music and the arts!

The Connectional Music & Christian Arts Ministry of the African Methodist Episcopal Church (M.C.A.M.) shall implement the mission and purpose of the African Methodist Episcopal Church as stated in The Doctrine and Discipline of the African Methodist Episcopal Church
THE VISION
 •    Educate and elevate our understanding of the importance of the Music and Christian Arts Ministry in the 21st century church.
•    Experience Growth spiritually, artistically and numerically
•    Empower Youth and Young Adults
•    Establish and maintain a standard of excellence
•    Embrace diversity in all genres of musical and creative expression.
•    It shall provide structure and consistency in music in all areas of the A.M.E. Church from the Connectional church to the local church. It shall serve as a music and related arts advisory organization that will assist with planning and preparation and submit recommendations for music at General Conference and Connectional meetings as well as Episcopal District meetings, Annual Conferences, Districts of the Annual Conferences and Local Programs or activities when requested. The Connectional Music & Christian Arts Ministry shall establish an Education and Leadership training component focusing on every aspect of music and worship in the A.M.E. Church.   The M.C.A.M. shall also work in conjunction with the Program Committee of the General Conference.   The objectives of the Connectional Music & Christian Arts Ministry shall be:
•    To recruit and develop musicians (instrumental, keyboards, conducting, vocal and related arts: dance, drama, mime, etc.) who are interested in serving the A.M.E. Church, proclaim Christ as the risen Savior, and are willing to study and practice all doctrines related to music and worship.
•    To publish articles concerning A.M.E. Church Music and related arts, historic, traditional, and contemporary trends in worship including interest areas: instrumental, vocal (anthems, spirituals, hymns, gospel, contemporary, etc.), biographies, performances, and other areas pertaining to church music.
•    To provide assistance to promising musicians through fellowships and scholarships.   To encourage the use of traditional and non-traditional instruments (brass, woodwind, hand bells, string and percussion, etc.), and performance genre. (ensemble, trio, quartet, quintet, dance, band orchestra solo, etc.)  in worship.
•    To establish a Connectional Christian Arts Institute, the Education and Leadership Training component of M.C.A.M.
